“The mood in the gold market has improved massively since the US banking turmoil a couple of weeks ago,” Carsten Menke, an analyst at Julius Baer Group Ltd was quoted as saying by Bloomberg.com last week.

With the yellow metal heading to/hitting record highs, the gold market is looking like it’s back to a much more familiar place. 

Indeed, back when everyone and his dog was diving into the cryptocurrency markets, the sentiment seemed to be that gold’s day in the sun was over. 

Since we took a closer look at the gold market in our last issue of Explore & Enrich (which you can read here), the gold price has continued to remain bullish. 

And market sentiment doesn’t look to be changing anytime soon. 

Uncertainty in markets around the world… 

It all looks to be set to continue for many months to come. 

Of course, as we pointed out before, gold has always been considered a ‘safe haven’ in troubling times. 

It seemed the crypto crowd were attempting to usurp that position a few years back, but failed. 

And as anyone who’s read The New Case for Gold by Jim Rickards will now, many consider the yellow metal more than just a haven. 

Whether you’re a natural gold bug or not… 

Could it be argued that it’s reinstating itself as the asset of choice? 

But either way, with a much more positive outlook for gold in the coming weeks and months, it makes the work we’re doing at projects like North Hemlo and Sunbeam look even more attractive. 

As excited as we are by the current movements in the gold market…

We’re perhaps more excited by the progress we’re making on the ground at those two projects. 

We can happily tell you that work is going well at both sites and we’re busy planning to further our exploration work accordingly. 

The aim is to have drill campaigns in place at both sites before the year is out.

What comes from those campaigns, we can’t ever truly predict, but we’re confident—based on the surveys we’ve already done—that the potential for an exciting development is there. 

Indeed, right now we’re waiting on a comprehensive historical review that’s being carried out at Sunbeam and are excited to see all it uncovers.

We’ll update you on what the review reveals in a future edition. 

Of course, our focus isn’t only on gold. 

If you’ve not already seen, we recently acquire an interest in a project known as Zigzag to give us vital exposure to the Lithium market too.

I believe it’s diversifying our portfolio like this that is helping to put us in such a strong position right now. 

It means that we have a stake in many of the biggest stories playing out on a macro level… 

But because we’re so focused on a single jurisdiction, it doesn’t mean we need to spread ourselves too thinly. 

There’s a lot to look forward to across our portfolio and I’ll be in touch again soon as we learn more at the various projects we have in play right now. 

Until then, it’ll be interesting to see just how far gold can go… 

And just how big an impact it could have on what we’re doing.
